Jay passionately represents the unborn because he strongly believes in the inherent value of all human life. A former pro-choice atheist, Jay found his pro-life passion through his journey with Jesus. Since then, Jay has fought to concisely, intelligently, and lovingly articulate the message of life all across the country. He has turned his words into action and has dedicated his life's work to sharing the Gospel by serving the cause of life.
Jay first found a home in the pro-life movement as a Development Coordinator at Cobb Pregnancy Services. For three years, Jay passionately and strategically built a base of donors deeply connected to the mission of Cobb Pregnancy Services. The life-affirming options this center provides mothers, and their unborn children are things Jay believes in deeply. He still sits on their board to this day.
After feeling the call to equip the Church in pro-life ministry, Jay left CPS in 2010 to serve for eight years with Life Training Institute (LTI). He served under Scott Klusendorf as the Vice-President of Development and Communications where he contributed as a speaker and writer. Jay's writing and speaking continued to open doors and expand his impact. This grew into Jay founding his organization.
Jay is the Founder and President of Merely Human Ministries, INC. His organization is "committed to equipping Christians and people who hold pro-life views to graciously defend the intrinsic dignity of all human life in a positive, impacting and Gospel inspired manner." We strongly recommend this website for tools equipping the pro-life movement.
He has spoken to high schools, universities, and professional organizations all across the United States. He has been an invited speaker at dozens of university groups including Harvard, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, and University of Illinois to name only a few. He has appeared on radio and television interviews, regularly featured as the keynote at banquets and national conferences, and published articles on a wide array of topics pertaining to bioethics and the university culture.
He lives in Marietta, GA, with his wife and three children.
"Jay was wonderful to work with and the audience are still raving about him. He inspired donors for LIFE and they responded with greater giving and pledging than our last in-person event with 1/2 the usual attendance due to Covid."
"Jay Watts does an outstanding job presenting pro-life apologetics. He is humorous, engaging, and very thorough, possessing an uncanny ability to focus in on the most important questions in the abortion debate. His mind - and heart - are a gift to the movement!"
"Jay Watts has spoken for First Care Women’s Clinic on numerous occasions. His knowledge of the abortion issue and his delivery has educated and motivated our audiences. At every event, people ask if his talk was recorded because they could not even absorb everything he said. He is one of few speakers who gets to know the organization before he speaks and personalizes his message specifically to us throughout his presentation. Jay also gives a strong financial appeal which few speakers do well. Without reservation, I highly recommend Jay Watts and Merely Human as a keynote speaker."
"To this day, our supporters still talk about Jay's keynote presentation at our dinner years ago! He is dynamic and commands the attention of everyone in the room. His entire speech is tailored perfectly to the work of the ministry he is there to support. Jay helped us quadruple our annual giving and hold a dinner that we could be proud of. I cannot say enough about the incredible job Jay does as a banquet speaker. He is one of the greats."
"Jay is one of the best pro-life speakers in America. His depth of knowledge is only equaled by his candid demeanor and genuine regard for all people. He is our source for not only the most up to date information regarding pro-life issues but our go-to person for tactics on how to reach people for what is good and true."
