Evie Lastra West grew up in Orange County, California. Her life’s resume includes ex-gang member from California, two-time teen mother, who was faced with the decision to terminate her second unborn son. However, through God’s amazing grace, she has been redeemed and has lived to tell about it.
Evie published a book called “Revolving Choices: Playing Roulette with Life”. This book is a story of Evie’s life and the consequences of her choices. This book also shares her story as a young, Hispanic girl desperately searching for her identity, but whose life has been drastically changed by the power of Jesus Christ.
Due to her decision to choose life instead of death for her son, she is passionate about abstinence, life and obedience. Evie has shared her story in schools, churches and community events.
In 1996, Evie was divinely “transplanted” to Cleveland, Tennessee where she enrolled at Lee College. In 2001, Evie graduated from Lee with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies. In 2019, she obtained her master’s in public safety from Tennessee Tech University. She has been a police officer for the City of Cleveland for over 21 years.
In March of 2017, her 20-year prayer was answered when she reunited with her 2nd son, Joel. Joel lives in Ohio and a graduate of Miami University.
"Eve's story was incredibly powerful and real as she just didn't talk to us about how we should support all you do, she lived it and made it so very real for all of us to understand the importance of coming alongside you all."
"Eve was so transparent and honest that you hung on her every word. You could feel her pain and struggle and so grateful how she shared the uncomfortable pieces of her story so we could see God's hand all over her."
"I saw many of the men tearing up as she was sharing her story."
