Cal Thomas focuses on what promotes the general welfare, regardless of which party or ideology gets the credit. Without letting politics, or ignorance, get in the way, Thomas urges readers to pay attention so that politicians can no longer pick their pockets—literally or intellectually.
With a twice-weekly column appearing in hundreds of newspapers, Thomas is one of the most widely read and one of the most highly regarded voices on the American political scene. For 19 years he was a commentator on Fox News Channel, which included his own show "After Hours" and as a panelist for "Fox News Watch." For ten years he and Bob Beckel wrote the "Common Ground" column for USA Today.
A graduate of American University, Thomas is a veteran of broadcast and print journalism. He has worked for NBC News in Washington, D.C. and hosted his own program on CBNC that was nominated for a Cable ACE Award in 1995. In 2011, Thomas received the William F. Buckley, Jr. Award for Media Excellence from the Media Research Center.
His latest book, A Watchman in the Night: What I’ve Seen Over 50 years Reporting on America, was released in the Spring of 2023.
He has four adult children, eleven grandchildren. He resides in the South Florida area.
“Cal was phenomenal. His appeal was warm, yet funny – which kept it from feeling awkward or forced. He kept his speech lighthearted, but walked the line of allowing the audience to feel convicted as the Spirit led. I have not heard one disparaging remark, only positive responses from everyone who attended the banquet. As a result, we received the highest amount to date from this banquet!”
"Cal Thomas came to us with great wit and insight. Not only was our evening with him enlightening, it was just plain fun. What we appreciated most was his passionate desire to represent Jesus well in his area of calling. He has done this under immense pressure, against the grain of his profession and with a wide variety of people. His passion is to lead his group of friends and coworkers to Christ and that passion was infectious with our people!"
"What a joyful time we had last night at the dinner, Gloria! Cal knocked it out of the park! We are praying that God will touch hearts with Cal’s clear presentation of the Gospel and for folks to give to the work. I appreciated his approachable style where anyone felt free to talk with him. He was so kind to entertain a photo-op w anyone who asked."
