Motivated by a sincere desire to stir a hunger for God in the hearts of audiences for the goodness of God, and the hope of Christ, Jim Shores & Carol Anderson-Shores have toured nationally since 1992 as professional actors. Their innovative approach to ministry has led them to form Acts of Renewal, in which they write and perform all their original material.
This ministry has led them to perform at many conferences including FamilyLife, Focus on the Family, and the American Association of Christian Counselors. Their passion for engaging the next generation with the biblical truth has taken them to over 60 colleges including Wheaton, Kings, and Harvard, among others. Additionally, they have created theatrical pieces to complement the messages of some of the world's leading communicators including J.I. Packer, Dennis Rainey, Gary Smalley, Tony Campollo, Joni Erickson Tada, and Brennan Manning.
Jim and Carol are also passionate promoters of the Pro-Life Movement. They love taking part in Pregnancy Center Fundraisers. They have performed at many conferences with organizations like Carenet, Family Life and Focus on the Family and still seek to bring a fresh experience to Pregnancy Resource Center fundraising events across the country. Acts of Renewal brings uplifting performances of three plays; one funny, one illuminating, and one moving, that help get donors on board with both mind and heart to the importance of the work of a Pregnancy Resource Center.
Carol's heart for women has also led her to do many women's specific events. She once has a show on eating disorders which aired on PBS, which opened the door for her to minister to more women. Carol now serves women by offering a fresh look at women of the Bible whose stories speak powerfully into present day struggles. She is funny, relevant, and real. Carol has a gift for communicating truths of Scripture that encourage women with perspective and hope.
"Acts of Renewal was a tremendous hit with our College Students & Single Adults! What a refreshing ability to connect with this challenging audience--dealing honestly and humorously with the challenges and frustrations of dating, family and work place relationships, while under girded by sound biblical application."
"After having Acts of Renewal perform at our 19th annual fundraising banquet for the CPC, the continual refrain that I heard was, "this was the best banquet I have ever been to...and I've been to a lot of banquets!" From the quality of the performances to the pace of the evening, Jim and Carol brought a unique presentation that was uplifting, challenging and powerful! I may never go back to a keynote speaker again!
"An exceptional speaker. Her messages and sharing of her heart was an inspiration to our conference retreat. I can't express enough how much she touched our lives."
