Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins led a round table discussion between Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen and Students for Life chapter leaders from across the country. Topping the list of concerns were violations of student free speech rights as administrators, professors and even fellow students have increased their attempts to squash pro-life conversations and campus engagement of Millennials and Generation Z, who are more likely than their parents to be pro-life.
“We are at a moment in time in which women are being empowered to speak about the issues they care about, and yet pro-life students face increasingly hostile attacks on their Constitutional rights. We also addressed the reasons why this mobilizing group of young voters wants to see Planned Parenthood defunded. It’s their money that’s being wasted on abortion mega providers rather than being invested in life-affirming care,” said Hawkins.
The closed door discussion included conversations with a number of students who talked about what they have endured as they stood for the rights of women and their pre-born infants on campuses across the country.
At a later reception for Pro-Life leaders, Vice President Pence called the Kristan and the students on stage to acknowledge and praise for their efforts in advancing life affirming values to the youth of America.
