Dr. Reccord brings more than 30 years of experience in organizational leadership to the role as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hope for the Heart. Prior to this position, he served as the Executive Director for the highly respected Council for National Policy (CNP) in Washington, D.C., a non-profit educational foundation whose mission is to restore and sustain American freedoms through business, civic, defense, educational, and religious forums. In doing so, he worked with many of the Christian leaders in the arena of social issues across this nation, as well as leaders on Capitol Hill.
Dr. Reccord also served as the first president of the North American Mission Board (NAMB) (1997-2006), an agency with more than 5,000 missionaries and 2,500 endorsed chaplains whose focus is to work with churches and state conventions to mobilize the Southern Baptist Convention as a missional force to impact North America with the gospel of Jesus Christ. During his presidency, the NAMB became one of the top three largest disaster relief agencies in the United States commended by President George W. Bush for its impact after 9/11 and the hurricanes of Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. Additionally, more than 14,000 new churches were launched.
Dr. Reccord received a Doctor of Ministry degree and Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Indiana University. While he serves as president of Hope for the Heart, he will continue to be involved with Total Life Impact, an organization he founded in 2006 to evangelistically challenge people to surrender their life to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to then be on mission for Jesus Christ right where they are. Since 2006 he has been privileged to speak to more than 220,000 men. Bob and Cheryl, his wife of 40 years, have three grown children, and twin grandsons.
Dr. Reccord's Pro-Life Testimony:
Beatrice was pregnant with her 3rd child, scared, uneducated, married to an abusive alcoholic, and overwhelmed. While the details may vary, it’s the story of many of the women we long to help. But, this is also the story of hope. This Mom made a tough choice, the right choice: the choice to give her little guy life and a chance at a future. A year later, she tragically died. By today’s standards, little Bobby’s life seemed further limited when he was adopted by a couple, neither of whom finished high school, and the adopted Dad had been an abused illegitimate child himself.
However, Bob Reccord would tell you that the details of his life have only served to make him passionate about the value of life for all children—not only to those who are born into “ideal” circumstances.
SETTING THE CHURCH BACK 2000 YEARS! For the church to be relevant today as it faces an increasingly diverse culture, a multicultural demographic, an increasingly mission-centered calling, and a need for engagement of members it is increasingly helpful to take a look at the church of Antioch as it faced much the same. To best impact our future, it is helpful to understand our past. And nowhere is that found more dynamically than in how the Antioch church stepped up to the challenge and became a church that touched the world. Your people will laugh, be stretched, gain new insight about how to be a missional church, and leave challenged to make the needed adjustments to change their world.
WALKING WELL THROUGH LIFE’S STORMS One thing we all have in common is tough times when storms of different types hit our lives and we are faced with having to step out in faith just to get through them. And when those storms come it often seems that circumstances darken and hopes collapse. When the winds of adversity blow, and the rains of difficulty beat against our life…it is often at the darkest moment that Christ steps in. Never early…and never late…always just on time. And He calls us to trust Him to calm the storm and lead us beyond it. People will sit on the edge of their seat in this message, and like they have in so many places, will be ready to step out in trust to face tomorrow’s opportunities.
THE SURPRISE OF SURRENDER Surrender is a word none of us care to embrace. Is carries with it the ideas of “weakness, “ “lack of control,” and “losing.” Who wants any of that?! But, ironically, God values that quality greatly. Why? What does it mean to daily living? And what is the difference between Commitment and Surrender? This message has impacted the lives of thousands who have said, “I’ve never understood, or even thought of that before.” It is a key to biblical and successful living. You’ll be glad you had this message shared with those to whom you minister. And its conclusion will be a surprise to all.
IS YOUR OUTPUT EXCEEDING YOUR INTAKE? In this life of hectic paces, demanding schedules, unrelenting expectations and shifting cultural values and mores, men often find themselves living lives that are totally out of balance. After exhausting work-days, growing family commitments and rising pressures men are often finding themselves exhausted, discouraged and feeling fractured. And, their “output” of attempting to meet all that is expected of them greatly exceeds anything they are doing to restore their souls, strengthen their leadership or broaden their capacity to impact their world. So what is a man to do? Elijah stands as a great example of how a man gets refocused to be able to impact their family and their world, while restoring balance to their life.
FORGED BY FIRE We have all learned something about life’s firey trials—most of us are usually just getting through some, or just going into some, or right in the middle of some. It is an inevitable part of life. So, “Why does God let them happen in our life?” “What do we do when we find ourselves in the midst of them?” “What is God trying to accomplish through them?” And, “How can we become better despite the”? These are core questions to successful and effective living. In this moving and heart-stirring message you’ll learn the answers to these questions as well as what are the two most important questions someone should ask “when the heat is on” in life!
FAITHFUL TO THE FINISH There is not a man alive who doesn’t want to finish his life well…regardless of how old he is now. Every man wants his life to count when it is all said and done. But you can’t finish well unless you are living well now. A key principle of life is that Today’s Decisions Set Tomorrow’s Directions that Lead to Life’s Ultimate Destinations. This message on the life of Uzziah has kept men glued to their seats across this nation and called them to “step up their game” in making their life count today.
CROSSING OVER TO A NEW WAY OF LIVING All of us want our life to count and to make the most of living. So, how do we do that? It calls for stepping out in directions and often “walking where we have not walked before.” Joshua 1 sets forth a great encouraging guide to grab life and step into a new way of living. Listeners will be challenged to celebrate who they are and not get trapped into being something, or someone, they are not. Filled with humor, audiences will laugh as they identify with how we desire for change in life to be easy, but discover that it never is. And for every journey, there needs to be a roadmap---so where do we find that, and what difference does it make? Get ready to be encouraged, challenged, regaled with laughter and stimulated to take your life to the next level.
UNLEASHED TO LIFE AT ITS BEST People everywhere want their life to be joyful, vibrant and fulfilling. But too often, people are coming up short. Why? There are many reasons, but one major one is that while we want life to change, we don’t want to have to personally change. And when confronted with opportunity we often throw out excuses for why it won’t work for us. So, then what? Thousands across the country have heard this life-changing message and have stepped up to the opportunity to be unleashed to a new way of living. In it Bob shares his dramatic testimony that has touched and moved the hearts of men, women and teens alike everywhere he has shared it. You’ll hear directly from a man who had to not allow excuses to imprison him, but broke free from them to experience all God had for him. People who hear it regularly say their life was changed by it!!
FORGED BY FIRE (see above)
LIFE’S BIGGEST STUMBLING BLOCK What do you think trips more people up than most anything else? Finances? Decisions? Mistakes? Background difficulties? Arguably, it may well be Ruptured Relationships. This message tackles this huge issue in our culture because it affects everyone. And pick any crowd and the vast majority have at least one ruptured relationship in their personal life. Bob addresses the issues and the answers head on and the response to this life-changing message has been amazing!

"Dr. Reccord was one of the best banquet speakers we have ever experienced. The response to his presentation was overwhelming. His powerful, impactful prolife message delivered in a context of gentle grace was fortified by his touching and potent personal account of being adopted. Attendees from all walks of life verbalized how much they learned from Dr. Reccord’s unique perspective on how abortion impacts us all. In addition, we had the highest amount of gifts we have ever had for a banquet due to his impact.”
"Our guests have given Dr. Reccord praises as the speaker for this year's fundraiser. He is extremely professional in his delivery, effectively using power point. He is enthusiastic and passionate in what he says. His did an exceptionally good job with the appeal. A very easy speaker to work with prior to the event."
“Dr. Reccord's message was both moving and inspiring. I was able to watch and listen to the reaction of the audience. Gasps could be heard when he quoted statistics on abortion and especially when he told his personal adoption story. Many burst into tears when he revealed that he was the little boy in the story. We are delighted to recommend Dr. Reccord! Several banquet guests commented afterwards that his message was one they needed to hear. One of our client birth moms was also there. I invited her to sit at the head table with Dr. Reccord. Before meeting and hearing him, she could only see a baby that she missed terribly. Now she sees what God can do with a life and is filled hope for the future for her baby and adoptive parents.”
