John S. Dickerson is a prize-winning journalist, a recognized voice in American Christianity, and bestselling author of The Great Evangelical Recession. His writing has appeared in The New York Times and USA Today, among others. In 2009 Tom Brokaw, Charles Gibson (ABC News) and Anna Quindlen (Newsweek) named his investigative reporting the best in the nation. As a pastor, John has guided individuals and communities through grief and loss. He presently serves as Teaching Pastor in Residence at Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos, CA, where he works with Chip Ingram “helping Christians live like Christians.”
John preaches weekend services at a large megachurch congregation in northern California—where he shares the pulpit with Lead Pastor Chip Ingram.
In addition to this very large congregation, John has also spoken at other churches of 7,000+ attendees, including Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana and First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida.
I Am Strong is a message of hope for anyone who is hurting, based on Paul the Apostle’s “thorn in the flesh” and the truth that “when I am weak, then I am strong.” His next book, Not Intimidated: Christianity in an Age of Terrorism, Persecution, Social Collapse and Global Unrest, will be forthcoming from Zondervan in 2017.
“This was our 12th Annual Greater Jacksonville Prayer Breakfast and I must rate it as one of our most effective. I would rate Pastor Dickerson as one of our most effective and appreciated Speakers.”
“The Great Evangelical Recession has gone a long way in contextualizing the plight of the church in today’s culture. There is no question that the church has weakened over these last few decades. Before we can expect our Lord to bring healing and revitalization to its health, there must be a humble truthfulness to our condition. John Dickerson’s work brings sense to what brought the church to this point.”
