In 2004, Kevin Malarkey and 6 year old son, Alex, suffered an horrific car accident. The impact from the crash paralyzed Alex — and medically speaking, it was unlikely that he could survive.

Kevin Malarkey is a Christian therapist with a counseling practice near Columbus, Ohio. He attended the College of Wooster and earned a graduate degree from Ohio State University. His academic background includes studies in clinical psychology, psychological assessment, and family counseling. Kevin has previous work experience developing educational programs, assessing psychological disorders, and counseling inner city youth and their families. He and his wife, Beth, have four children (Alex, Aaron, Gracie, and Ryan) and attend a nondenominational evangelical
church. They enjoy spending time together playing board games, going to the zoo, finding new playgrounds, and exploring parks and recreational areas.

Kevin’s son, Alex Malarkey (12), is the youngest person in the world to have the “Christopher Reeve Surgery” allowing him to breathe without a ventilator. He can stand in a supportive frame for an hour at a time and, with the help of a special harness, can walk on a treadmill while helpers move his legs. Alex is an avid Steelers fan. He believes he will walk again someday.
